Self-esteem Tips
This valentines, show yourself some love
Our self-esteem is how we think and feel about ourselves. This includes:
Whether we like the person that we are
What we think of our abilities, strengths and weaknesses.
How strongly we believe we can be successful at what we do.
High self-esteem
We tend to feel positive about ourselves and our abilities
Low self-esteem
We tend to see ourselves in a more negative light
Low self-esteem can develop at any time in life-it might come from difficult events, experiences or beliefs.
There are things you can do to help improve how you think and feel about yourself.
Strategy
Know your strengths
Every single one of us has value, strengths and positive qualities. Despite the views we may have, we deserve to feel good about ourselves and enjoy life.
Try to remind yourself of all the positive qualities that you have. This can feel difficult so imagine you’re talking to a friend – what would you say to encourage them?
Once a week, record 4 or 5 things that you did with the positive qualities you displayed. This can give you a confidence boost and help balance your perspective.
